Electrical Engineering Specialist - Radar

Role Summary

• Evaluate customer specifications and translation into designs
• Develop design, analysis and testing guides for automotive radar electronics
• Evaluate internal and external engineering design change requests
• Participate in electrical design reviews and ensures best practices are followed
• Act as primary technical specialist for all electrical engineering-related concerns and offers expertise to the product teams as appropriate
• Market analysis of new technologies and technology trends e.g. new automotive Radar chips
• Represent Magna Electronics in industry groups such as IEEE or SAE

Key Responsibilities

• Worst Case Circuit Analysis in Mathcad or Excel
• Regulations and standards of the automotive industry such as AEC-Q and ISO 26262
• Structured problem-solving techniques like 8D
• Deep knowledge in
• Automotive radar systems and the associated regulations such as ETSI compliance
• Automotive development processes
• FMEA methods and tools (such as APIS IQ FMEA)
• Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers and RF signal generators
• Using different design tools (e.g. Altium Designer, PSPICE, and others)
• Trouble shooting methods and circuit testing
• Working with requirements management tools such as DOORS and PTC Integrity

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design of radars, preferably in automotive industry
• Driver license class B
• Interfaces and busses like CAN-FD, Multimode Ethernet, LVDS and others
• Strong knowledge in interpreting data sheets of complex automotive ICs
• Strong understanding of analog circuits and digital high-speed designs such as MMICs and DDR-Memory
• Experience in designing and evaluating complex PCBs for automotive radar applications
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools
• Good English and German skills are essential
• Knowledge in inter-processor communication techniques and their parameters like bandwidth
• Excellent understanding of electrical and system architectures for radar applications
• MMIC evaluation and selection
• Ability to travel to both domestic and international locations
