Electrical Design Engineer Now Hiring!

Adecco is currently hiring a permanent full-time Electrical Design Engineer to work for a leader in the Engineering industry in Ottawa, ON. In this role you will be responsible for preparing drawings using office CAD system and preparing design and layout with project documentation. This role requires good communication and leadership skills with minimum 1 year expereince with CAD.Word processor, spreadsheet and electrical design software knowledge and experience is also required for this role. • Location: Ottawa, ON
• Shifts: Monday to Friday | 8:00AM - 5:00 PM
• Job type: Permanent | Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Participate in maintaining firm's quality standard.
• Obtain stamp and signature from signing engineer.
• Document and communicate project's scope to in-house design team members.
• Ensure plans and specifications conform to applicable codes, good engineering practice and project scope.
• Liaison with client & other consultants to determine project's scope, under supervision of senior Engineer/Designer.
• Prepare detailed design layout.
• Perform load calculations.
• Respect project schedule.
• Assist senior to monitor and control in-house costs and compare to project budget.
• Participate in design review meetings.
• Construction administration and site review.
• Coordinate electrical requirements with senior mechanical Engineer/Designer.
• Review project documentation.
• Prepare drawings using office CAD system.
• Coordinate with client, architect, interior designer and other consultants.
• Manage/coordinate multiple projects.

Requirements:
Problem solving and critical thinking abilities

• Coordinate electrical system layout with mechanical department and external consultants.
• Apply electrical engineering theory and adhere to codes.
• Address conditions encountered on-site.

Knowledge of building codes

• National Building Code
• National and Ontario Hydro Electrical Codes & Bulletins
• Model National Energy Code for Buildings
• ASHRAE 90.1
• Ontario Fire Code
• Ontario Building Code

Knowledge of design practices & norms

• Word processor, spreadsheet and electrical design software experience and knowledge
• National Fire Protection Association
• Construction methods/techniques
• Good leadership skills
• Good communication skills both verbal and written
• Design drafting and specification writing practices
• Construction costs in both time and capital
• Minimum 1 year expereince with CAD
• C.S.A. Standards
• I.E.S. Recommended Practices
• Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
• Electrical systems
