SNC-Lavalin TDR division has an exciting full-time career opportunity for experienced Electrical Distribution Engineers in the field of Transmission and Distribution.
The Distribution Engineer is required to work within a multi-discipline team to design efficient and reliable distribution networks. The Distribution Engineer will assist to coordinate design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. The Distribution Engineer will also assist the estimating team in preparation of estimates and project proposals, as required.
This position is accountable to provide all design activities in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including all of SNC-Lavalin’s policies and procedures, such as Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

• Supervise and prepare Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.
• Supervise and develop underground cable routing conduit and trench plan layout and sections for distribution network.
• Supervise and prepare Power Single Line Diagram, Relay and Metering One-line diagram and Communication architectural block diagram.
• Maintain complete project documentation with respect to all design packages.
• Prepare material requisitions and performance specifications.
• Prepare Scope of Work using the planning specification information
• Work closely with peers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility Standards, industry standards and meet good engineering practices, policies and procedures.
• Supervise and develop plan and profile drawings of Overhead lines and installation details of underground Cables for distribution network.
• Maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support the project.
• Perform simple estimates using data from the utility material database.

What will you contribute?

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from a recognized University.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as Distribution Engineer in the field of Transmission and Distribution is considered to have gained the required experience for the position.
• Experience in BC Hydro Distribution Engineering and Construction Standards is an asset.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good knowledge of North American codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI.
