Devops Engineer (Gcp) Jobs

As a Devops Engineer you will be responsible for building and supporting the application infrastructure of one of the largest e-Commerce sites in Canada. This will require you to maintain high site uptime while embracing rapid change and growth using a strong Devops mindset of continuous delivery and site automation. This is a demanding role that requires deep technical knowledge, adaptability, hands on execution, and a ruthless drive towards higher levels of availability.

In this role:

• Engineer application infrastructure that is reliable, efficient, and maintainable
• Partner closely with software engineering teams using a strong devops mindset
• You will have a maniacal focus on site uptime
• Constantly improve operational processes and efficiency
• Support the Jira Cloud Migration program and recommend best practices for migration to Jira Cloud
• Automate, Automate, Automate

Responsibilities and Requirements:

70% - Delivery & Execution:

• Collaborates and pairs with other product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutions
• Contributes to meaningful architecture diagrams and other documentation needed for security reviews or other interested parties
• Defines Service Level Objectives for product(s) to constantly measure their reliability in production and help prioritize backlog work
• Writes custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments, testing, monitoring services, and test cases based on modern CI/CD principles in Cloud or on-prem.
• Contributes to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, or engineering empowerment
• Creates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactively
• Writes custom code or scripts to do "destructive testing" to ensure adequate resiliency in production
• Documents, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are met

20% - Support & Enablement:

• Proactively reviews the performance and capacity of all aspects of production: code, infrastructure, data, and message processing
• Monitors tools and participates in conversations to encourage collaboration across product teams
• Provides application support for software running in production
• Fields questions from other product teams or support teams
• Triages high priority issues and outages as they arise
• Proactively monitors production Service Level Objectives for product(s)

10% - Learning:

• Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations
• Participates in and leads learning activities around modern devops core practices (communities of practice)

What Youll Need to Succeed:

• DevOps tooling (Bash Scripting, PowerShell, Terraform, Bamboo, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Helm.)
• Programming languages (one or more of Java, Python, Perl) and an understanding of Infrastructure as Code
• Knowledge on Analytics services in combination with 3rd parties - Atscale, Cloud DataProc, Cloud Dataflow, Apache Beam/ Google Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), Big Table, Cloud BigQuery, Cloud PubSub, Cloud storage Cloud Functions will be plus
• Working within Agile Development methodologies (Jira, ServiceNow, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
• Experience with modern cloud monitoring and reporting tools and best practices (StackDriver, Prometheus, Grafana)
• Experience with containerized environments Docker, Kubernetes
• Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication skills
• Cloud architecture and implementation experience of Google Cloud Platform or equivalent (Azure, AWS will suffice but GCP preferred)
• SQL skills and Data analysis experience
