About This Role

Here's Some Of What You May Be Asked To Perform

• Work with partners across Technology and apply in-depth understanding of relevant business needs to identify and leverage synergies across the various areas
• Act as the expert or lead innovator and agent of change for the programs and services under management
• Respond to routine or standard requests from internal and external customers.
• Provide support to ensure accuracy of drawings and other technical baseline documents.
• Solve moderate to complex problems with ability to provide new solutions or take a new perspective on existing solutions.
• Interpret client needs, assess engineering related requirements and identify solutions to non-standard requests
• Understand relationships between work processes and the business to ensure awareness of costs related to workloads.
• Document and verify system components, applications, system infrastructure, security, integration, operability and engineering related architecture designs associated with a program or project.
• Monitor product life cycles, ensuring specifications and functionality support business objectives and engineering decisions, undertaking re-development where required.
• Work with other stakeholders to ensure engineering solutions meet technical direction, requirements, performance, time-to-market, and innovation goals.
• Develop as-built program activities to establish details needed using configuration management processes.
• Work with vendor platform providers and engineering peers to keep abreast of trends, products, frameworks, and applications
• Participate in the conceptual and logical engineering designs for assigned portfolio.
• Contribute to enterprise and business line engineering strategies and mandates.
• Participate in quality management reviews, reviews of the designs, prototypes, and other required work products to ensure they are fulfilled.
• Work with other teams to implement best practices for cyber engineering and management

Requirements

Experience & Education

• 5+ years relevant experience
• Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering)
• Experience in the financial vertical (especially large tier 1/2 banks) is desirable
• University or post-graduate degree
• At least 2 years related security controls and platforms an asset

KEY TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• L3/L4 technologies – routers, switches and DDoS prevention tools and the role they play in securing network traffic
• Experience with and knowledge of CDN (Content Delivery Networks)
• Cyber security attack mitigation techniques
• L7 – Application layer protocols and how to secure traffic associated with L7 applications (HTTP and APIs for web applications)
• Functional knowledge of the role of Firewalls in securing and segmenting network zones and traffic.
• Full OSI stack understanding and experience in network controls:
• Bot mitigation and management
• Firm understanding of application proxies such as F5, specifically in load balancing and securing traffic between Origin servers and Cloud based services
• Experience with and knowledge of WAF (Web Application Firewalls)
• Deploying/ Operating advanced network tools such as packet sniffers, Network Intrusion Detection/Protection platforms and similar.

Desirable Experiences And Skills

• Problem solving
• Scripting / Programming Skills: Python, REST API integration would be an asset
• Site Reliability Engineering experience a plus.
• Understanding of JavaScripts and SDK (Software development Kits) is an asset
• Web application development, especially with integration with Mobile apps and in Financial Space is an asset
• Understanding of cyber security attack vectors and risks
• DevOps/DevSecOps backgrounds
