Gentek Building Products is a leading manufacturer and distributor of quality building products. With 3 Canadian manufacturing plants and 22 distribution offices, we are well positioned to provide our customers with quality products and a superior customer service experience. We are currently looking for a Credit and Collection Specialist (Retail) to join our corporate office team based at our distribution branch in Burlington.



Responsibilities: Working from our Burlington office you will:


  • Reconcile payments of retail accounts against our record of receivables
  • Dispute resolution and mitigation
  • Initiate collection calls and other action for escalated receivables issues
  • Special projects as assigned by the Director of Credit
  • Upload payment for all Retail accounts and handling mismatch payments
  • Obtain and analyze credit reports
  • Obtain and analyze bank and trade references
  • Responsible for credit and collection for assigned supply center
  • Approve credit applications
  • Assess and analyze the creditworthiness of new and existing customer and establish credit limits per customer.
  • Evaluate credit data
  • Need to resolve and follow up on unauthorized deduction.
  • Professionally communicate with customers on escalated disputes
  • Maintain policies and procedures related to credit, receivables, collections
  • Credit, Collection, and administration for Retail accounts and or commercial accounts
  • Liaise with distribution branch staff to assist with effective management of A/R issues and collections
  • Responding e-mails and take necessary action for all Retail accounts.
  • Document collection efforts
  • Provide timely updates on collection activity
  • Responsible for releasing orders on credit hold
  • Maintain corporate DSO targets and attain performance objectives as established


Qualifications


Experience and education:


  • Working knowledge of the construction industry. Application of liens a plus
  • Ability to function in a fast paced & high-energy, ever changing environment with a strong sense of urgency and flexibility
  • Mature and dependable disposition
  • High degree of organization and attention to detail/accuracy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • AS400 experience a plus
  • Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office – specifically excel
  • University Degree in Business or related field (preferred)
  • Great initiative and autonomy
