Ovintiv requires a full-time Contract Plant Operator to work at our Pipestone, Alberta Processing Facility. The plant is a sour gas processing facility that includes Inlet separation, inlet and sales compression, IFPexol dehydration, amine sweetening, refrigeration and acid gas injection.

Ovintiv requires strong knowledge and experience from the Operator in compression, amine sweetening, refrigeration, condensate stabilization NGL handling and de-sanding equipment, acid gas compression.

The plants require 24 hour coverage consisting of 12 hour shifts. We require a full-time Contract Plant Operator with a minimum of a 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Track and maintain key performance indicators such as production, downtime and production losses.
• Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance, and management staff.
• Understands and performs safety responsibilities such as hazard identification, equipment lock-out, emergency response, and follows safe work procedures.
• Troubleshoot process problems and identify opportunities for improvement and optimization, working closely with Shift Lead and Lead Operator.
• Responsible for corrective action if required.
• Ensure work order, operations improvement processes are followed.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and control plant and field processing conditions utilizing control systems.
• Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant process and control room areas.
• Operate gas plant equipment and facilities in a safe and efficient manner.
• Responsible for minor maintenance and the coordination of other maintenance activities.
• Assist with special projects, including turnarounds.
• Maintain proper documentation including plant log, maintenance records, safety and environment reports, etc.

Qualifications

• Ability and confidence to work with minimal supervision and proven strong leadership abilities.
• Operational and maintenance experience in gas compression, dehydration, and NGL recovery is preferred.
• 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate minimum.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and is open to take on a variety of operational challenges.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Must live within the Dawson Creek catchment area and or the Grande Prairie catchment area.
• 3 or more years of operational experience.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with proven analytical, trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
• Team player with strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required, ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in use and application of PC programs specifically in Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
