Superintendent – Installation – Wind

Calgary, AB regional Sites

Role

The Installation Superintendent works in collaboration with the General Superintendent/Site Manager. They are responsible to oversee the construction activities related to any installation scope of work on the solar plant or wind turbine system.

Superintendents are required to travel to the construction site on rotation. We have various sites across southern Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities

• Check and prepare material orders and items related to the work they supervise
• Understand contract and scope of work and ensure it is well communicated to the trades or subcontractors
• Keep a daily log of all site activities
• Maintain site files on supplies, equipment and services
• Ensure the as-built drawings are marked
• Provide solutions to production problems and technical issues
• Identify and eliminate risks and identify and document the hazards
• Ensure that all changes related to the work in their field of activity provided by professionals are incorporated on site
• Attend and participate actively in all project’s meetings
• Be responsible for their specific section in the monthly report (MMM) as well as the weekly report
• Be responsible for collecting & approving timesheets daily
• Coach assistant superintendents and foremen in their professional development
• Organize construction activities and ensure the completion of the work by the workforce and/or subcontractors in their field of activity
• Supervise inspections performed by field engineers, subcontractors, and any external participant
• Maintain a professional attitude with owners, workers, consultants and coworkers

Qualifications

• High geographical mobility
• Good communication both verbally and written
• Fluent in English, French, an asset
• Autonomy and leadership
• Being able to adapt to high-stress environment and weather fluctuations (construction site)
• Excellent teamwork and attitude
• Valid driver license
• Excellent team management and conflict resolution skills
• High school diploma and technical trade certifications/card/diploma (according to the province) or any relevant experience
• Experience with installing wind turbines
• 10+ years of experience in similar functions within a wind farm construction company
