Job Description

GS Engineering is seeking an Intermediate CAD Technician to join our team of engineers and design technologists. You would work with our team throughout the design process from concept to production to communicate designs through drawings and details.


Technologist responsibilities include gathering drawings and specifications, calculating material requirements, and setting up production methods. If you have hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and are familiar with building or fabrication processes, we’d like to meet you.


Ultimately, you’ll help us deliver well-designed products and structures that meet our client’s needs.


GS Engineering is a structural consulting firm. We offer structural analysis and design for industrial, commercial, and residential buildings, as well as site plan, and site servicing for small developments. GS Engineering Consultants Inc. does finite element analysis for lifting devices including ergo assist devices, racks and stands, lifting blocks, and a variety of other components and mechanisms that require certification to meet a regulatory approval.


GS Engineering Consultants Inc. has over 40 years of experience in the consulting engineering, construction and fabrication industry designing of connections, detailing of structural elements, and assistance in production planning.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Other duties as assigned/required.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings with computer-aided design (CAD) software in 2D and 3D to specified design standards and the GSE professional practice policies.
  • Calculate material and quantity take-offs.
  • Liaise with office staff, engineers, clients, and contractors to gather design direction, specifications, and feedback.
  • Describe fabrication and construction methods step-by-step
  • Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team to provide design assistance

Professional Qualifications & Experience:

  • Highly motivated, hardworking and enthusiastic team player looking to learn;
  • Ability to effectively communicate design decisions, concerns, and solutions verbally, through writing, and drafting;
  • Direct experience with Autodesk Inventor Pro would be considered an asset.
  • Capable of working, problem solving, and learning independently; and
  • Knowledge in Autodesk AutoCAD and 3D Solid modeling program;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a flexible attitude are a must;
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software in 2D and 3D;
  • Engineering, Architecture, or Design degree or diploma from a university, college, or technical school;
  • Ability to collaborative and with all office staff, client, and contractors;
