The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) is inviting applications for the position of Communications Officer.
Our ideal candidate is starting out in their journalism/communications career with a recent undergraduate degree in a relevant field and solid, demonstrable professional experience crafting a wide variety of communications products, including writing, editing and design.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative self-starter looking to work collaboratively with a small and growing team.
As a member of the team, the Communications Officer will support the delivery of the communications and marketing strategy in order to augment the Council’s brand both internally and externally.
Established in 1993, CCPPP is a national not-for-profit non-partisan, member-based organization with broad and unique representation from across the public and private sectors. Our members represent the leading construction, engineering, legal, and advisory firms; banks and financiers; and operators and facilities maintenance firms working hard to build Canada’s much needed public infrastructure as well as the public sector owners.
The Council’s vision is to shape the future of Canada’s infrastructure and services by delivering value to Canadians through Public-Private Partnerships (P3s). The Council does this through:
• Convening both public and private market participants to discuss leading practices and harness lessons learned and adapting the model as needed;
• Advocating for the use of public-private partnership models, where appropriate to build a sustained pipeline of projects across the country; and
• Conducting research to support evidence-based decision making and demonstrate the benefits of the model.
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Communications, the Communications Officer will be responsible for the creation of a variety of public facing communication materials. Our ideal candidate will have strong writing, editing and research skills, an ability to balance the need for speed with incredible attention to detail, curiosity and a sense of humour. Key duties and responsibilities include:
• Write communication products, including news releases, speeches, presentations, articles, newsletters and reports
• Maintain and update Council’s website
• Develop social media posts and maintain social media calendar
• Edit research papers and case studies as needed
• Produce daily news clipping package on deadline for distribution to CCPPP members
• Capture, analyze and report on communication analytics
• Design social media graphics and edit images
• Support the planning and execution of meetings, gatherings and special events including the Annual Conference
• Assist with administrative tasks and other duties as required
This is a full-time, permanent position working remotely in the Greater Toronto-Hamilton area with the occasional need for in-person meetings. Evening and weekend work will be required for the Annual Conference held in downtown Toronto every November.
Salary Level: $60,000-$70,000 annually
• Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communications, or other relevant field. Relevant work experience in combination with education will be considered
• Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as organization and time management skills. Interest in politics, business and current affairs are assets
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel); Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom; and Canva. Experience with iMIS and Higher Logic (Informz) are assets
• Website management experience using Kentico, WordPress and/or HTML
• Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Bilingualism is an asset
• Experience with deadline reporting is also an asset
