Job Purpose
At Parr, our Drivers are essential to fulfilling the needs of our customers by making sure they are receiving their orders on-time and in great condition. The ideal driver is someone who is driven to maintain safety regulations and above and beyond customer service.
The Driver reports directly to the Yard Manager and interacts daily with customers, dispatchers, receivers and load-builders out of our Trus-way location in Vancouver, Washington.
Starting at $31.69 - $35.81 depending on experience.
Tasks
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Legally, safely and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads
  • Maintain yard, warehouse and vehicle cleanliness during course of work
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors and vendors
  • Keeps truck supplied, organized, and clean
  • Demonstrates commitment to on time and in full deliveries
  • Annually update driver's qualification file as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post trip inspections of all equipment
  • Proactively manages job site conditions for next delivery and communicates with others
  • Learns and uses route planning and optimization
  • Complete mileage and fuel usage reports
  • Promptly report all accidents/incidents
  • Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after completing each delivery
  • Finds productive work to do in down time
  • Perform required safety audit of vehicle (daily safety audits, weekly brake inspections) and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Checks load for accuracy
  • Comes to work professionally attired
  • Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicle

Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Acceptable driving record
  • OSHA Certified Forklift License
  • Class A CDL (air-brake endorsement preferred)
  • Open and transparent communication
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety audits and reports of any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
  • Driving experience within 50-mile radius of primary location preferred
  • Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience
  • Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • NCCCO required

Working Conditions
This position will be working at a lumberyard and making deliveries at jobsites in all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to pass DOT pre-placement physical and physical capacities examination
  • Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
  • Ability to stoop, bend and walk
  • Ability to sit for an extended period of time
