Advanced Electrophoresis Solutions Ltd (AES) is a market leader in protein charge variant separation and characterization, working with biopharmaceutical researchers and producers to answer their diversely urgent needs. AES’s CEinfinite system provides high throughput and reliable analytical and preparative imaging detection capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) and icIEF-MS coupling. AES also supplies critical reagents such as carrier ampholytes and pI markers for the whole life cycle of therapeutic proteins. The company is currently focused on developing and optimizing innovative products to directly target the bottlenecks of protein separation and characterization in the biopharmaceutical industry.

Job Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Chemistry Research Scientist with rich knowledge and strong background in chemistry to manage the development of innovative icIEF-MS portfolio for protein characterization, including relevant interface, solution and workflow SOP under the supervision of Commercial Director. Duties include the high-efficient management of developing new analytical product, MS interface optimization and solution development in terms of icIEF-MS together with the marketing and commercial teams, responsible for the key projects in the essential cycles of icIEF-MS portfolio development and research in in-depth applications in protein chemistry, presenting AES capabilities in differentiating innovations of icIEF-MS and providing an interface to the end-user customers.

Summary:

Managing the development of new icIEF-MS portfolios including relevant MS interface that has high-reproducibility and flexible compatibility with multiple MS brands, relevant consumables, and workflow & solution development to promote the business of differentiating icIEF-MS portfolio with accordingly diverse consumable products in biopharma industry. The salary of this opening position is 80k CAN $ annual year.

Key Responsibilities:

·Responsible for the development of new icIEF-MS portfolio and related projects, including icIEF-MS platform construction, establishment of solution and workflow in protein characterization using constructed icIEF-MS, and methodological validation from sample preparation, analytical test and data processing.

·Lead the new interface optimization and evaluation of icIEF-mass spectrometry for protein characterization with enhanced compatibility with multiple MS brands.

·Lead the key projects in the whole process of icIEF-MS development. Work with the Commercial, Marketing and Technical supporting team to position the new MS tandem product and tacking the “Development Pace” driven by differentiating solutions.

·Develop solution and workflow SOP on the developed icIEF-MS platform together with the Technical Team and Marketing Team by coordinating the Chemist Team. Promote the icIEF-MS technology by completing scientific articles in the SCI journal, technical brochure and application notes.

·Help customers understand the values of developed icIEF-MS solutions, and get feedback from customers about products and services for continuous improvements.

·Responsible for the maintenance of mass spectrometry in the laboratory.

·This role may require travel more than 10% of the time.


Basic Requirements

·Master’s Degree or above in life sciences and chemistry.

·Above 8 years of experience in new product and solution development and management.

·Strong background of analytical chemistry, instrumentation, and solution development.


Preferred Requirements

·Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills. Self-motivated, hardworking, enthusiastic, and outgoing.

·Rich knowledge of protein chemistry, and in-depth understanding the analytical methodologies of protein characterization.

·Good at the operation, data processing and maintenance of high-resolution mass spectrometry, especially for Orbitrap MS from Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.

·Rich experience with managing key projects in product development. Strong capacity of decision-making and flexibility.

·Strong teamwork sprit with different stakeholders.

·Technical expert at electrophoresis, chromatography and mass spectrometry, including hardware, software, and solution development.

·Thorough understanding of business factors effecting the promotion and penetration of new product and solutions in key markets of biopharma industry.
