Job Description
Madrina Bar y Tapas, part of The Distillery Restaurants Corporation, creators of El Catrin, Cluny Bistro and Pure Spirits Oyster House & Bar, Archeo Trattoria and Distillery Events, is actively seeking an engaged CHEF DE PARTIE to join our Back of House Team within our growing company!


Our venues are located in the Distillery Historic District, one of North America's most exciting art and shopping destinations and home to some of the top-ranked restaurants in the City of Toronto. Madrina Bar y Tapas opened in June 2018 to bring Catalan tapas to Toronto.


At Madrina, Chef Ramon Simarro, whose experience consists of both Michelin-star restaurants and popular casual eateries, focuses on seasonal products alongside authentic ingredients from Spain to re-imagine a menu that marries innovation and fun with Barcelona classics.


We are actively seeking an experienced and motivated Chef de Partie who loves food, takes pride in their growing craft and wants to contribute to a high achieving, team-oriented kitchen. DRC Chef de Parties have a proven track record of cooking in a fast-paced environment and have experience assisting the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs in the daily operation and planning of the kitchen. They help implement, maintain, and improve new and present standards and policies according to the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs.

What you'll be doing:
  • Working closely with cooks to ensure daily operations run smoothly and all food quality standards are met
  • Assisting with training
  • Performing routine checks on opening, closing and cleaning duties and checklists to see they are completed fully and to standards
  • Assisting with ordering and inventory
  • Supporting product, menu and recipe development
  • Maintaining established standards for the restaurant and assisting with new objectives
  • Co-ordinates ordering, mise-en-place, and task/assignment delegation ensuring production is on schedule
  • Ensuring the kitchen is run according to health and safety regulations - giving necessary safety, hygiene and sanitation training to other staff members as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Following FIFO (first in, first out) method to maximize freshness
  • Ensuring proper handling of equipment and utensils - training staff as needed


NOTE: The Chef de Partie takes over all responsibilities in the absence of the Sous Chef.


What we would like you to bring to the kitchen:
  • EDUCATION/TRAINING. You’ve graduated with a culinary degree/diploma. It’s possible that school wasn’t your thing, but you’ve got the equivalent to a college education through a combination of education and experience.
  • PASSION. You have a genuine passion for food and a drive to create.
  • ADAPTABILITY. You thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • PERSONALITY. You’re humble coupled with a good sense of humour.
  • EXPERIENCE. You have several years of cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment with clear upward growth toward management.
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS. You demonstrate exceptional relationship-building and communication skills among your team members at the restaurant.
