Requirements:

The University of Calgary IT (UCIT) Department requires the services of one Contractor to perform Business Analysis services.

Reporting to the Associate Director of IT Investment Office (ITIO), the Business Analyst is responsible for the requirements deliverables of the projects assigned as well as ensuring adherence to University Policies, the ITIO Methodology, and specific Solution Delivery processes and standards.

  1. Expected work hours are 50% FTE role with a maximum of 80 hrs per month. We expect that the BA will be at 50% capacity on the Project. However, we anticipate that more Projects will be prioritized in the coming months and the BA will be assigned accordingly if they are the right fit. The expectation is that the candidate will not be charging for time not worked. The candidate must be willing to work part time if required and up to fulltime capacity as needed.
  2. Role duration is 6 months with a possibility of extension

Description of Services and Deliverables:

Qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience as a Business Analyst.
  • A team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Influence and engage all levels of stakeholders and support change.
  • Strategic, critical and analytical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Flexible and able to work in a dynamic environment and changing situations
  • Experience in developing and delivering detailed requirements.
  • Experience working on enterprise level programs and familiarity with BA methodologies and tools.
  • Must be:
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage time effectively

Responsibilities:

  • Gap Assessment
  • Risk Assessment
  • Test Plan / Test Case
  • Process modeling
  • Ensure adherence to the ITIO Methodology, use of our BA standard templates as well as the specific Solution Delivery processes and standards.
  • Ensure that project decisions are formally documented as per ITIO Methodology.
  • Provide reporting and status updates to the ITIO team as required.
  • Training Plan
  • Ensure compliance with University standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all project documentation and deliverables are stored in the official SharePoint project repository.
  • Business Requirement Documents
  • Work closely with the project team and key stakeholders to elicit information required to produce BA and Training deliverables as needed.
  • Liaise with the ITIO group for additional guidance on ITIO BA standards.
