Reporting to the Director of Finance, and a member of the Finance team, the Budget Analyst is responsible for delivering high-quality financial analysis and budgetary support across an international, growing company in a competitive manufacturing sector. The Budget Analyst must be highly analytical and detail-orientated to support cross-functional collaboration with all other departments for budgeting, costing, and maintaining variance analysis reporting. They must have strong critical thinking skills, be a strong collaborator, and an effective communicator.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Track departmental OpEx & CAPEX budgets by providing Actual vs Budget variance analysis as well as TO-GO analysis reporting.
- Actively identify opportunities aimed at driving efficiencies, automating processes, and developing best practices.
- Develop, review, and analyze department budgets including working collaboratively across all departments to support budget development, review, and analysis, including raising anomalies or concerns.
- Prepare ad hoc reports for management as required.
- Prepare ratio analysis of YTD income statement to provide insights into Performance and identify key cost drivers to provide a baseline for the next year budget, as well as assist in preparation of the year-end forecasts.
- Assist the Director of Finance in preparing the month-end presentation reports for management’s review of the progress in OpEx & CAPEX.
Costing
- Collaborate with the Logistics team to set standard freight, brokerage, and storage costs for major suppliers and ports of origins.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to set standard costs for OEM modules.
- Assist the Director of Finance to map all cost drivers included in the cost of sales.
- Support effective project accounting through maintenance and updating of the chart of accounts.
- Work with the Supply Chain team to set standard cost per item for the raw materials.
- Prepare absorption rate for manufacturing overheads keeping in view of the Production capacity.
- Prepare purchase price variance analysis for all trade vendors including raw materials, OEM, freight, brokerage, and storage.
- Collaborate with Operations to track all manufacturing overheads against their cost centers.
Reporting, Analysis, and Continuous Improvement
- Build relevant dashboards in the Business Intelligence software with key company data and visuals for leaders of the company to use for collaborative analysis and decision-making.
- Key strategic partner in strategic planning, annual operating budget, and monthly forecasts
- Participate in the preparation of monthly/quarterly management reporting for the leadership team.
- Identify and investigate monthly and quarterly variances to budget and forecast.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field, or equivalent combination of experience/degree with at least three (3) years minimum of experience of working in an accounting and/or analyst role or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Good oral and written communication is a must.
- Creating reports using Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI as well as Excel skills including pivot tables, power query, advanced Excel functions & macros.
- Accounting Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS is an asset.
- CPA or working towards CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Advanced Computer Skills required in MS Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical skills, and capability to drive insights from financial models.
- Good organization and people skills with the ability to maintain relationships and support a team environment.
- Applicants must have excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving, and the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in time-sensitive environments with competing deadlines maintain high degree of accuracy.
