JOB SUMMARY:


Our group is entering an exciting period of tremendous growth and we are looking for a Corporate Development Associate to support and execute on our strategic goals to support that growth. The companies within our group each have independent operations but must function harmoniously in order to execute on our strategic vision.


This is where you come in – reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Operations, you will have the opportunity to grow alongside our organization as we expand our business in Canada and beyond. You will be responsible for supporting and executing critical initiatives in corporate operations, governance, controls, and compliance for Chelsea Avondale and its affiliates.


Responsibilities:


  • Researching legal inquiries, compliance & regulatory requirements, business process improvement initiatives, etc.;
  • Supporting the operations team in drafting, reviewing and updating a variety of corporate governance material (including corporate policies and procedural documents);
  • Maintaining the group’s document management system, including overseeing the continued maintenance of the group’s corporate records keeping systems;
  • Supporting with other ad-hoc business operations and/or compliance activities (as necessary).
  • Coordinating with the group’s external legal counsel, professional advisors and other third parties to fulfil various corporate strategy objectives and administrative requirements, such as updating the group’s organizational charts, corporate register of members / shareholders, register of directors & officers, foundational corporate documents, etc.;
  • Assisting with the placement of corporate insurance coverages across the group;
  • Drafting and compiling materials to be presented to the board of directors and shareholders (including meeting packages, resolutions, business updates, etc.) for various entities across the group;
  • Liaising with business leaders across the Chelsea Avondale group to help facilitate ongoing corporate operations, administration, governance, and compliance projects.
  • Organizing and maintaining the group’s corporate tracking systems including compliance calendars, legal agreements tracker, corporate insurance tracker, etc.;
  • Researching and preparing regulatory & compliance filings for entities in multiple jurisdictions including: annual government filings, filings with insurance regulators, anti-money laundering filings, economic substance filings, legal and KYC requests, etc.;

  • Professionalism – think critically about tasks assigned and communicate with business leaders / third parties to drive projects forward, without hesitation in appropriately raising questions that may arise.
  • Strong professional and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field, with strong academics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – this role requires clear communication and an ability to articulate findings & solutions coherently and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong attention to detail, even in the face of complex problems.
  • Excellent time-management skills, to ensure assignments are appropriately completed on time in the face of varying deadlines.
  • Eager to learn.
  • 1 – 2 years of experience working in a similar capacity.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe programs including Word, Excel, and Acrobat.
  • Highly collaborative and detail oriented.
