Job Description


Individual Customer Technology (IC Tech) is an organization providing information technology solutions to Canada Life. In IC Tech, the Customer is at the centre of what we do.


Our IC Tech professionals make a significant contribution to the companies' business goals through the effective delivery of value-added services. These services include setting technology direction, project management, analysis, system architecture, software development and the provision of operational support services for our Individual Customer business unit.


What You Will Do


The Associate Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for collection, analysis, and documentation of business requirements, needs and features, contribute to solutioning discussions and translate business needs and features into developer-consumable functional and non-functional requirements as an input to design, development and testing exercises associated with application development, support, or configuration. Working in a team environment, the Associate Business Systems Analyst is responsible for:


  • Performing functional analysis and design, defining and documenting detailed business requirements
  • Participating in defining and designing the business functionality of the system
  • Participating in performing business and systems analysis and design, articulating the logical design alternatives and recommending appropriate solutions
  • Participating in defining business problems/opportunities, providing a clear definition and performing benefit analysis
  • Performing functional testing of system changes and supporting user acceptance testing of those changes
  • Ensuring that the system meets the defined business requirements
  • Participating in eliciting, validating and documenting business requirements


What You Will Bring


  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Degree in related discipline (Commerce/Management Information Systems, Business Administration, etc.) or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience with requirements gathering and documentation of functional and non-functional specifications is an asset
  • Communicates in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills that rely on a structured approach to problem solving
  • Good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Understanding of general IT project methodologies, processes and practices
  • Ability to adapt to change and perform effectively under pressure
  • Effective internal consulting skills with a strong customer service orientation
