Job Description

We are a leading printing and packaging company that specializes in delivering custom packaging solutions for our clients. Our company is dedicated to delivering high-quality products and services that exceed our clients' expectations.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Purchaser to join our procurement team. The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing raw materials, supplies, and equipment needed for our printing and packaging processes. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing coverage to our receiving department as well as an eagerness to learn and grow with our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Document and report any discrepancies or damages to management and suppliers
  • Ensure that materials are properly stored and organized in the warehouse or storage area
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of purchase orders, requisitions, and bid requests
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Oversee inventory counts and ensure accuracy
  • Purchase raw materials, supplies, and equipment needed for printing and packaging processes
  • Participate in the evaluation of supplier performance
  • Verify accuracy of incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure that materials are available when needed
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors
  • Provide coverage for the receiving department when needed
  • Coordinate with other departments to schedule deliveries and shipments
  • Maintain an eagerness to learn and grow with the team
  • Record and update inventory levels in the system
  • Assist in loading and unloading of shipments when necessary
  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments of raw materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of goods

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Printing and packaging industry experience could be an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in inventory management and conducting inventory counts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing or related field
