Job Description


Reporting to the Director – Metal Enclosed Switchgear (MES), this position will provide guidance and support to team members in the MES Assembly as well as perform operational leadership activities to meet our safety, quality, productivity and on time delivery goals.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Maintain a high level of product quality and on-time shipments to both internal and external customers.
  • Provide support to direct reports across 3 different shifts (Days, Afternoon and Weekend).
  • Author and maintain the problem solving A3 process, action plans, and scorecards on priorities and Lean Performance System (LPS) and continuous improvement (CI) initiatives, report out on those priorities, and enact countermeasures when targets are missed.
  • Create and/or maintain visuals such as Key Performance Indicator boards.
  • Perform planning functions to ensure the timely availability of staffing and materials.
  • Coach and mentor team members in Problem Solving and other LPS/CI activities.
  • Coordinate cross departmental efforts to initiate, follow up, and bring to realization to the goals for Assembly departments.
  • Identify training and skill development to meet departmental needs.
  • Promote safety awareness, housekeeping, and investigating and reporting on safety incidents.


Minimum Requirements


Experience:


  • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Experience with custom metal enclosed assembly and fabrication operations is an asset.


Skills


  • Self-motivated/starter. Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to make quick decisions.
  • Demonstrated track record of lean manufacturing leadership, sustained improvements, and KPI attainment.
  • Creative thinker.
  • Solid problem-solving skills, be able to give constant attention to details, have a desire for accountability, and have excellent communication an organizational skill.


Physical Effort


Normal or frequent moderate physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. Involves standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 10kg/22lbs.


Travel (occasional travel may be required)
