Job Description

Viterra is seeking an Assistant Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and participating in the efficient and profitable management of market center facilities and inventories, including receiving, cleaning, drying, storing and quality control functions.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain samples of processed grain inventories.
  • Maintain processing and warehousing standards to ensure compliance with quality controls.
  • Supervise and assign duties to staff and monitor work results to ensure the timely and efficient completion of assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/HACCP program requirements.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of end-user requirements in order to ensure product meets the required specifications.
  • Meet facility housekeeping and maintenance performance standards and conduct regular housekeeping inspections.
  • Monitor facility and processing costs, and recommend improvements to increase operating efficiencies and profitability.
  • Co-ordinate facility operations with maintenance staff to optimize operating results.


Knowledge And Skills


  • Physical ability to perform the required duties of the role within a grain elevator environment.
  • Good eye sight and color perception.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grain regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and organize staff activities.


Education And Qualifications


  • Minimum of five (4) years of related supervisory experience.
  • Requires Workplace Hazardous Materials Inventory System (WHMIS) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification.
  • Post-secondary degree in Agri-Business.


Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
