The Business Analyst, Product Management is responsible to help clients build sound business cases for technology solutions, transform concepts into detailed business requirements, ensure the functional specifications capture the essence of the solution, develop test scenarios and document business procedures. They will shape recommendations, problem identification, testing, data modeling and develop training requirements.


Key Job Functions/Responsibilities


  • Lead focus group and information sessions to ensure successful use of new applications and features.
  • Interview customer users to identify business problems and requirements of new software.
  • Provide problem solving for client reported issues with the application.
  • Document and present the functional requirements in a form that is meaningful to customers and the development team.
  • Provide guidance to other business analysts and product team members.
  • As the product owner, monitor the SDLC progress to ensure smooth implementation from start to finish.
  • Interview other Broadridge stakeholders (and possibly third parties such as CDS, TSX, vendors, etc.) to obtain further insight into business problems.
  • Unit test new system changes initiated by the development team.
  • Liaise with the development team on the initiatives provided to you and lead the development priorities for your defined product areas.
  • Participate/lead larger scale, more complex projects.
  • Analyze conflicting requirements from different users, prioritize them, and develop business-oriented software requirements.
  • Participate in cross training and product demos when required.


Basic Skill Level Requirements/ Education:


  • Business Analysis, CSC, CFA designation or enrollment beneficial
  • Training in system integration life cycle methodologies
  • University degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or equivalent work experience


Experience:


  • Approximately 5 years’ experience in the financial/brokerage/technology industry


Skills/Tools


  • Analytical skills with financial/brokerage experience and specifically, the securities industry, problem identification including business impact, business processes and procedures, cost/benefit analysis.
  • Interpersonal skills including building consensus, negotiation, and facilitation.
  • Testing skills including creating business test cases and building test plans.
  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, MS Access, SQL, and/or OpenEdge ABL (PROGRESS) would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills such as client interviewing, business writing, developing, and delivering presentations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Design Skills, data modeling, process modeling, knowledge of wireframes and prototyping
