Job Description
Permanent, Full-time (32- 40 hrs) | Salaried position with comprehensive benefits

Are you a wellness leader and caring community builder? Are you looking for more meaning in your work?

PARC Retirement Living is an award-winning developer and operator of independent senior-living communities. We’re seeking an Active Living Manager to join the PARC Wellness Team at our Summerhill PARC community located in North Vancouver

About Working At PARC

PARC Retirement Living is everything that makes life the best it can be! Our PARC Active Living™ program is key to keeping our residents healthy, vibrant, and self-reliant. It’s easy, fun, inspiring, and soulful – enriching the body and the mind through four pillars of wellness: physical fitness, social pursuits, emotional health, and nutritious meals.

As the Active Living Manager, you’re at the center of it all. You work closely with our Active Wellness Coach, residents, staff, and volunteers to deliver holistic wellness programs, lively social events, excursions, and more.

As PARC Active Living Manager, you’re responsible for:

  • Working closely with our community’s Wellness Nurse on mental health programming and health-related seminars.
  • Managing monthly and annual PARC Active Living™ budgets, purchasing supplies and equipment, and maintaining inventories.
  • Planning and delivering programs, outings and special events that engage residents in heart-healthy, enriching, and fun activity.
  • Cultivating a respectful, warm environment for residents and staff.
  • Planning and implementing an exciting monthly calendar of events and activities in tandem with other managers and staff.
  • Championing the PARC Active Living™ program with residents, families, and prospects.
  • Overseeing speaker series, PARC education, cultural programs, social events, the PARC technology lending library, event contractors and outings.
  • Supporting and managing Residence Drivers, Active Wellness Coaches, and Volunteers.

The perks of working at PARC

  • Refreshments while you work. PARC’s chef-prepared cuisine rivals the best in BC, and we offer subsidized daily meals and beverages to employees.
  • A supportive, diverse team and training opportunities. We believe in giving our people opportunities to advance wherever we can.
  • No more late nights. Unlike the rest of the hospitality world, our closing shift ends at 9 p.m.
  • High-value benefits. We offer Extended Health, Dental, Life, AD&D and Disability Insurance, plus an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), to help protect your health, family and way of life. Plus: birthdays off with pay, parental top-ups and much more!
  • Meaningful work. How many jobs can say that? At PARC, you’ll be making a positive difference in seniors’ lives, each and every day.

It takes a special kind of person to work here – does this sound like you?

  • You have a minimum of two years’ experience working with older adults preferably in a wellness or active event organizer role, and you’re a certified Group Fitness Leader (or are willing to certify)
  • You’re an effective communicator capable of fostering strong interpersonal relationships with residents, their families, and employees.
  • You’re a problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing work environment.
  • You’ve completed a recognized therapeutic recreation diploma or kinesiology, gerontology degree program, or equivalent education and experience. Some management experience would be an asset, too.
  • You’re committed to continuous learning and development, and fostering the growth of your people.

At PARC Retirement Living we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are fully vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. We also require a Criminal Record Check, and a TB test within the first month of employment.
