As ATB's next Accounting and Reconciliation Analyst, you will provide support to all functions of the ATB Wealth Finance team: Month-end accounting and reporting processes, daily and monthly reconciliation of internal accounts for the operations of ATB Securities Inc. (ATBSI), accounts payable processing, and analytical support for budgeting and forecasting processes.

Within ATB Wealth Finance

• The General Accounting (GA) team ensures compliance with regulatory requirements set by Canadian investment industry regulatory bodies. The GA team also manages accounts payable functions for ATB Wealth subsidiaries.
• The Business Finance (BF) team stewards financial relationships with key business leaders across ATB Wealth, providing financial and analytical support toward business planning, managing budgets and forecasts, and the evaluation of strategic initiatives.
• The External Financial Reporting (EFR) team prepares accounting entries and analyzes results toward preparation of the audited financial statements for ATB Wealth subsidiaries. The EFR team also partners with the Business Finance team by preparing management reporting and budgets analysis, and supporting relationships with business leaders.

You will be a resource available to all ATB Wealth Finance teams. Initially, you will be immersed in the accountabilities of the Reconciliation Analyst on the GA team, so that regulatory reporting and accounts payable processes have robust coverage throughout the fiscal year. When proficiency has been demonstrated in these two primary roles, you will be introduced to supporting Business Finance relationships.

Accountabilities

Financial Reporting

• Complete month-end journal entries and analysis
• Prepare month-end financial statement packages, including supporting working paper schedules
• Support BF team by preparing budgets and management reporting analysis for ATB Wealth functions
• Support other EFR team members toward acting as backup on other accounting and budgeting processes
• Support EFR leaders in preparation of materials for monthly management reporting

General Accounting

• Perform various Accounts Payable functions, such as reviewing and coding of invoices, and processing of vouchers for payments
• Assist with completion of monthly regulatory reconciliations of security and stock positions with custodian records
• Assist with other regulatory reporting duties, such as regulatory schedules and calculations, physical stock security counts, and cross training with other GA team members
• Provide coverage as required for daily reconciliations of bank and internal accounts, and collaborate with various departments to investigate and resolve outstanding transactions in a timely and effective manner
• Provide coverage as required for daily monitoring of control reports to ensure proper segregation of client securities and settlement of trades
• Prepare daily and monthly accounting journals to record balances and transactions appropriately between banking, general ledger and Dataphile systems

Requirements

• Detail oriented
• Proficient use of Excel and Google Suite tools
• Experience with SAP, Multiview, Dataphile, ReconArt would be an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and initiate action
• Investment industry experience and/or interest and education an asset
• Recently obtained professional accounting designation, or working toward accounting designation, with business or accounting degree and equivalent accounting work experience
