2023-087 Medical Laboratory Technician

Under the supervision of the infectious diseases coordinator and as a member of the infectious diseases team of the Public Health Department of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (RRSSSN), the laboratory will participate in population screening for tuberculosis and sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), including syphilis. You must be available to work in a Nunavik community for a minimum period of 4-6 weeks.
Mainly, You Will Have To

• Act as the team's focal point for all laboratory procedures;
• Ensure management of biomedical waste;
• Perform other related duties.
• Collaborate with the team in the preparation and transport of samples to external laboratories;
• Perform tuberculosis analyzes (Quantiferon, GeneXpert)

Qualifications

• Available to work in a remote region context;
• Excellent adaptability;
• Ability to work under pressure and according to a variable schedule;
• Collaborate in the various screening activities;
• Excellent command of two of the three languages used in Nunavik, both spoken and written (French, English, Inuktitut);
• Experience in a remote region and/or in tuberculosis, an asset;
• Availability for a period of 4 to 6 weeks
• Entry Level Certificate from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Sciences
• Aptitude for teamwork;

Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
Conditions And Benefits
One-year occasional part-time temporary position with possibility of extension;
During travel, the northern premiums are paid and accommodation is provided;
Salary according to the rules established by the MSSS ($24.78/h to $35.67/h).
