Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, this role will work closely with environmental technicians and other field staff to conduct field monitoring and sampling programs and perform environment compliance monitoring for site operations with associated analyses and data management. Also will provide support to the rest of the Environmental group as needed in the field. This is a permanent role on a 3 week in and 3 week out rotation.


Main Accountabilities


  • Mentoring contractual summer environment technicians under the Company’s Environmental Management System.
  • Conducting field and in-house lab analyses of field samples using on-site portable analyzers and meters
  • Performing the role of Environmental Coordinator when resources requires it.
  • Completing chain of custodies, processing, packing, and shipping collected samples.
  • Conducting field monitoring and sampling programs as required under existing permits, licenses, and the company's Environmental Management System (including surface, lake and ground water, effluent, soil and dustfall sampling)
  • Assisting with spill prevention and spill response and filling out pertinent forms related to environmental spills and incidents and follow-up.
  • Regularly updating, filing, and managing environmental documentation.
  • Promoting environmental awareness and education through assisting in the preparation and implementation of environmental training exercises.
  • Calibrating, installing and maintaining sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Maintaining detailed and comprehensive field notes.
  • Assisting process and environmental engineers with specific tasks relating to wastewater treatment activities.
  • Other technical field and office tasks to support the sustainable development and site operations groups.
  • Conducting internal due diligence compliance inspections of various site facilities and operational activities
  • Participating/ assisting with environmental baseline studies, fish habitat monitoring, erosion and sediment control measures, and active migratory bird nest surveys
  • Entering and managing collected field and laboratory data into the environmental database.


Main Qualifications


  • Fire Arms Certificate (FAC) or Possession & Aquisition License (PAL) required
  • Experience with wildlife monitoring
  • Experience working in a mine would be an asset
  • From 1 years to less than 3 years iin an industry under the environmental discipline
  • College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree from an institution with Environmental science, environmental engineering, or similar physical or biological science related field required
  • Experience in environmental monitoring (water sampling)
  • Experience with outboard motors, boats (Pleasure Craft Boat License), snowmobiles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite of software products such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Good organizational skills and punctuality
  • Driver’s License required
