3+ years of acute care experience acquired withing the last 10 years or work.

Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.

Advanced skills in conflict resolution and problem solving.

Strong oral communication and writing skills.

Develop, implement, review and evaluate resident care plans

Current registration with the provincial College of Nurses

Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

Maintain awareness (at all times) of emergency procedures; participate in drills and associated educational opportunities

Over one year up to and including 2 years of previous experience in a long term care setting an asset

Working knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long Term Care standards and guidelines and relevant legislation an asset

Effective oral and written communication skills

Completion of the Medication Administration certification

Recent Acute Medical Experience (1-2 years) required

CPR Certification/First Aid Training (required)

Measure vital signs (blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, and respiration rate)

Facilitating investigational medicinal product (IMP) accountability

Assess and record changes in signs or symptoms, as reported by the patient

Provide injections to patients according to prescribed medication orders.

Perform wound care, including cleaning, dressing, and assessing healing progress.

Plan, direct, supervise and evaluate the work of nursing and personal care staff assigned to the unit.

Consults with and informs supervisor of unit activities, needs and matters related to resident care.

Participates in care conferences and documentation related to resident care plans.

Adheres to established departmental polices and procedures regarding documentation, quality assurance, fire, safety, environment and infection control.

Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities

Dedicated to providing high-quality care services to clients and knowledge of practices and methods of community care

Experience with tracheostomy care or experience working with Pediatric clients would be considered an asset

Perform routine and specialized nursing duties (as qualified) in accordance with company policies and procedures and Standards of Nursing Practice

Provide care including standard care services as well as specialized, client specific procedures when required
