Overview: Home Care Support Workers provide assistance to elderly, disabled, or ill individuals in their own homes. They help with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation, as well as providing companionship and emotional support. How To Become an Home Care Support Worker: Home Care Support Workers typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, and may need to complete a training program or certification. They must also pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license. Home Care Support Worker Skills: Home Care Support Workers must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently. They must also be able to lift and move patients, and be knowledgeable about safety and emergency procedures. Home Care Support Worker Knowledge: Home Care Support Workers must be knowledgeable about the medical conditions of their clients, and be able to recognize changes in their condition. They must also be familiar with the medications their clients are taking, and be able to provide basic first aid. Home Care Support Worker Responsibilities: Home Care Support Workers are responsible for providing assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation. They must also provide companionship and emotional support, and be able to recognize changes in their clients’ condition.
