Surety Specialist Jobs

5 years underwriting experience within a Surety organization to the comparable level of responsibilities, accounts and broker partners.

University Related Degree, preferably commerce, economics and or business co-op degree related educational background

Ability to interact with both internal and external customers through written and oral skills, have a marketing and analytical ability.

Clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills and a comfort level to communicate to all levels.

Setup of new and renewal business

Conducting account and portfolio underwriting activities in a manner consistent with underwriting guidelines and portfolio management requirements established by the company.

Experience in the development and management of marketing plans, business plans and budgets.

Sound management and interpersonal skills in order to effectively work in a multidisciplinary team environment

Knowledge of Surety distribution channels and experience in managing relationships with regional brokers.

Collaborating with colleagues across the Americas and internationally in order to fully leverage surety capabilities and existing customer base.

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in surety in the Canada.

Liaise with underwriters and management to discuss complex underwriting issues to develop and execute upon solution-based approaches

Post-secondary university degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration

Strong analytical thinking with effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience dealing with clients/contractors, brokers, company executives, bankers, and attorneys would be an asset

Ability to manage multiple priorities while adapting to new and changing information

Experience in contract surety, commercial banking, accounting, or construction experience considered an asset

Assist and manage potential surety claims situations and act as a liaison between all interest parties in the claims process.

Minimum 3 years Surety underwriting experience. (Previous experience at a brokerage is a plus.)

Superb interpersonal skills and attention to detail

Ability to be a self starter with strong written and oral communication skills as well as organizational skills

Advanced skills in Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint

Strong analytical skills and solid understanding of financial statements and business cycles of construction companies
