Process Scientist Jobs in Alberta

Experience in biosynthesis, fermentation, bioprocess scale-up;

Experience with analytical methods (chromatography, HPLC, GC, MS);

Experience with operation and maintenance of bioreactors;

Develop and execute analytic procedures for product and byproduct identification via assays and chromatography;

Optimize the product and intermediates clean up procedures, assess purity;

Optimize bioreactor conditions, reagents and microorganisms to increase efficiency and yield of fermentation experiments;

Prior experience in enzyme engineering, microbiology, x-ray crystallography is preferable, but not required.

Candidate should possess a Doctoral degree and have a strong background in chemical biology or a related area.

Qualified candidates must have at least one first author paper published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal.

Post-Doctoral Scientist – Process Development

Excellent organizational, project and time management capabilities.

Developing and optimizing additive formulations in support of polyethylene product development and/or variable cost management.

Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience

M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry with minimum 1- 4 years of relevant experience.

Related experience in the field of polymer chemistry, plastics processing and/or polymer additives.

Experience with experimental design and statistical analysis.

Degree or completion of a Management Development and/or NAIT Plastics program is an asset or equivalent work experience.

Collaborate with employees and managers to reduce downtime, maintain efficient use of labour, and achieve objectives set for the plant.

Experience with troubleshooting complex process equipment.

Proven experience in a supervisory capacity and working with manufacturing or extrusion machines or blending operations.

Knowledge of extrusion/blending machine operation and quality control.

Act as the subject matter expert for the PVC Process.

Experience with project and people management

PhD in Chemistry with 7+ years of experience; Or BS or MS degree with extensive industry experience

Experience in planning and executing multi-step synthesis of organic molecules

Experience scaling up synthetic routes and developing safe processes

Experience with kilo lab, pilot plant and/or plant operations

Strong desire to work in multi-disciplinary teams, learn new skills and proactively solve problems
