Overview Planning Technicians are responsible for providing technical support to urban and regional planners in the development of plans, programs, and projects. They are responsible for researching and analyzing data, preparing reports, and providing technical assistance to planners. Detailed Job Description Planning Technicians are responsible for providing technical support to urban and regional planners in the development of plans, programs, and projects. They are responsible for researching and analyzing data, preparing reports, and providing technical assistance to planners. They may also be responsible for preparing maps and diagrams, conducting field surveys, and attending public meetings. Planning Technicians must be able to interpret and apply local, state, and federal regulations and policies. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of urban and regional planning principles and practices
• Ability to interpret and apply local, state, and federal regulations and policies
• Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS)
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders
Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, geography, or a related field
• Experience in urban or regional planning
• Knowledge of GIS software
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
