Osp Telecom Designer Jobs

Excellent customer service, organization, time management, written and communication skills

Contribute to the entry and maintenance of an asset compliance management database system.

Must be able to use I-pad (or similar) for Field inspection/Survey work and possess basic computer skills

Experience with aerial make ready local utility overhead aerial construction codes (GO128/95 in CA) is required

Inspect, Evaluate and Analyze Aerial and Underground facilities for compliance with applicable internal and external safety and regulatory standards.

Provide occasional repair guidance and suggestions to OSP vendors and in house maintenance teams.

CATV/HFC/TELCO/UTILITY OSP planning/construction related experience and knowledge is preferred.

Must have experience working on a project team and managing milestone execution on projects.

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be organized, detail oriented and personable.

Verifies serviceability, surveys proposed service routing, estimates material, construction, and labor costs.

Performs field engineering of proposed projects and ensures alternative routing delivers the most cost-effective design for construction.

Work closely with contractors, vendors, and city planners for permitting, right-of-way, and easements.

• Accountable for the financial management of capital allocated to networks

• Experience in drafting design tools

• Detailed engineering knowledge of a suite of design systems and tools including SAP, AutoCAD and SpatialNet

• 3+ years of relevant telecommunications experience

• Knowledge of Outside Plant network estimation

• Data analytics to be able to provide insights of business, finance and projects

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in outside plant fibre design.

Knowledgeable with the design of building communication, technology and audio-visual system would be an asset.

Firm knowledge of telecommunications and electrical code related issues and construction practices.

Experience in writing technical specification.

BICSI RCDD certificate or BICSI OSP certification would be an asset

Knowledgeable in GIS environment would be an asset.

Familiarity and experience with telecommunications and electrical standards including Canadian Electrical Code and Alberta Electrical Code.

Attend customer meetings and perform site surveys or walk-outs as necessary to comply with customer requirements.

1-2 years of design experience.

Survey or CAD experience is an asset.

Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.

Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills and adapt.

Engineering aerial, underground & inside copper and/or fiber routes and road moves.

Effective communication with the customer and the developer to ensure their responsibilities are relayed accurately

Post secondary education in a technical discipline (civil, mechanical etc.)

Utility design background, telecommunications experience considered an asset

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Ensure existing records are accurate based on what exists in the field

Open service boxes/vaults, when possible, following safety standards and protocols
