Overview Operating Room Assistants are responsible for providing assistance to surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff during surgical procedures. They are responsible for preparing the operating room, setting up equipment, and helping to ensure that the procedure runs smoothly. Detailed Job Description Operating Room Assistants are responsible for preparing the operating room for surgical procedures. This includes setting up and organizing the operating room, sterilizing equipment, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available. They must also help to move patients to and from the operating room, and assist with positioning the patient for the procedure. During the procedure, they must help to pass instruments and supplies to the medical staff, and help to maintain a sterile environment. After the procedure, they must help to clean and restock the operating room, and ensure that all equipment is properly stored. Job Skills Required Operating Room Assistants must have excellent organizational and communication skills. They must be able to work quickly and efficiently, and be able to follow instructions accurately. They must also be able to work well in a team environment, and be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Job Qualifications Operating Room Assistants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a medical setting is preferred, but not required.
