They must also be able to use a variety of tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and repair problems. To become a Licensed Truck Mechanic, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and complete a formal training program in truck mechanics. You must also have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check. Skills required for a Licensed Truck Mechanic include mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to read and interpret technical manuals. They must also be able to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge required for a Licensed Truck Mechanic includes knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and other components of heavy-duty trucks. They must also be familiar with safety regulations and procedures.
