Lab Support Assistant Jobs in Nova Scotia

Managing incoming sample data (SDS, sample size, test requirements)

Performing go/no go, explosion severity, MIT, MIE, LOC, MEC, LIT testing campaigns in accordance with recognized ASTM Standards.

Direct involvement in the data analysis of the testing results for various materials.

Preparing detailed technical reports of the results of the data analysis for dust explosivity of the tested materials.

Working with clients in North America and worldwide to achieve fire and life safety.

Managing the disposal of un-used samples.

PhD in Chemical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.

The candidate works well with others and has strong communication skills, including strong writing, research, and interpersonal skills.

Writes reports, presents research results at laboratory meetings and assists with the writing of grant applications.

Familiar with lab-scale fluid mechanics experiments and ability to operate small fluid loops.

Measure pressure and control flow rates.

Troubleshoot and ability to do small repairs in laboratory equipment and provide input into the design of laboratory equipment.

Minimum of 2 years related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Conducts field sampling of soils, crops and amendment;

Prepares and analyses soil, crop and amendment samples for chemical and physical properties using colormetric and mid-infrared spectroscopy methods;

Analyzes data and enters data into FT-IR database

Performs other duties when necessary.

Undergraduate degree or diploma in agroecology or an agriculture related subject or Masters of Science is preferred.

Previous internship or co-op experience

Knowledge of PLC programming and Control Systems

Experience with Microsoft VISIO and Access

Experience with C, .NET, VB, or equivalent

Design and development of scripts for automat ing test procedures

Document ing of test procedures
