Instructor Therapist– Transition Age Services Jobs

Baccalaureate (Masters preferred) in a relevant health care profession supplemented with leadership and business management courses.

Demonstrated ability to exhibit comprehensive knowledge and skillful application of home health programs.

Utilizes skill and knowledge in the application of current word processing, spreadsheet and database programs for reporting and business purposes.

Utilizes skill and knowledge in the application of appropriate software programs.

Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated excellent communication skills to function within a complex interdisciplinary environment including ability to communicate with the physician community.

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.

In-depth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners to inform the referral process.

Proficiency in the use of personal computers, including related word processing and database management software applications.

Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approach; concurrent disorders; addictions and addictions counselling.

Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and professional practice guidelines for the treatment of various disorders.

Comprehensive knowledge of the broad range of issues pertaining to adolescent mental health problems.

Excellent time management, organization and problem-solving skills; demonstrated ability to set priorities as required.

Knowledge of leisure education and leisure counselling process.

Knowledge and experience working within a Harm Reduction Approach, Connect Model and Trauma Informed Practice preferred.

Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

Minimum two (2) years experience as a Recreation Therapist, required. Experience working with adolescents in Mental Health and Addiction settings, preferred.

Experience working with adolescents of various ages and degrees of harmful involvement with substances and/or gambling and concurrent mental health diagnosis.

Post-secondary education in Autism and Behaviour Science, Behavioural Psychology, or a related field.

College diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Worker and Developmental Service Worker may be considered.

1-year’s experience in delivering ABA-based programming an asset.

Knowledge concerning cultural diversity and proficiency in other languages will be considered assets for this position.
