Geomatics Technician Jobs in Nova Scotia

High School Diploma mandatory. Geological or Geotechnical Diploma or equivalent related education and experience.

Knowledge and experience specific to mineral exploration and mining would be an asset.

Intermediate computer skills (experience with MS office suite is mandatory, ArcGIS proficiency is preferred).

Complete a variety of administrative/technical duties as requested by the Supervisor/Manager.

Experience in geotechnical logging and downhole surveying is an asset.

Self-motivated, Safety-conscious, Flexible, Dependable, pays strict attention to detail and has good communication skills (both verbal and written).

Ongoing training & update technical procedures and Best practices as per Measurement Canada and the company’s requirement and policy.

Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, EUSR, and other related safety regulations.

Knowledge of tools and equipment and their life cycles

Experience in continuous improvement activities

Requires a minimum of 3-4 years of related experience.

Working Knowledge of electrical boards, meters, metering devices, and other related equipment and accessories.

Work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, holidays, and emergency situations;

Manually lift, push, and pull up to 90 lbs;

Work in inclement weather conditions (including snow, rain & cold);

Kneel, crouch and work above shoulders on occasion;

Work safely aloft from a ladder, pole gaffs, or bucket truck near energized equipment and/or power lines;

Ability to work standby on a rotating basis.

Two years of verifiable mechanic experience.

Base rate $36-$37 - up to $40 an hour for the afternoon shift.

Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2:30 pm OR 2 pm to 10:30 pm

Full-time, 40 hours per week

Tool allowance after 1 year of service.

Boot allowance after 1 year of service.

Data entry into multiple computer systems

Apply good communication skills - both written and verbal

Experience working a physical job in the last 2 year

Experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment

Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Experience working a rotating shift

10 years of survey field data collection and layout experience

Expert knowledge with AutoCAD 2020 Civil3D

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Provide topographic surveys and construction layout using robotic total stations and GPS

Preparation of base-plan using AutoCAD 2020 Civil3D and MicroStation

Able to use robotic total stations and GPS equipment

Uses computerized maintenance management system to initiate work requests for material deficiencies noted during shift operations.

Education in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance or instrument and controls.

GE 7FA experience a plus but not required.

Good verbal and written communications skills.

Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and or control systems in a power generation facility.

Perform/direct housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean safe work environment and professional appearance

Provides maintenance and support of RoomView system software for each connected room to manage remote monitoring and control of these rooms.

Maintains service records on each piece of equipment and accurate work record file statistics.

Provides maintenance and support for dedicated classroom PCs that are used by instructors and other users.

Ensures that all necessary software is installed and network connections are functioning properly.

Debugs existing software application modules using detailed specifications and disciplined software development processes, quality standards and procedures.

Performs other related UBC IT AV and UBC IT duties as required.
