Overview A Carpenter Journeyman is a skilled tradesperson who has completed an apprenticeship program and has the necessary qualifications to work independently on carpentry projects. They are responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. Detailed Job Description Carpenter Journeymen are responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials. They must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings, measure and mark materials for cutting, and use a variety of hand and power tools to cut, shape, and assemble materials. They must also be able to install hardware, such as hinges, locks, and handles, and finish carpentry projects by sanding, staining, and painting. Job Skill Requirements Carpenter Journeymen must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to work with precision. They must also have good problem-solving skills and be able to work independently. They must be able to lift and carry heavy materials and be comfortable working at heights. Job Qualifications Carpenter Journeymen must have completed an apprenticeship program and have the necessary qualifications to work independently on carpentry projects. They must also have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
