Yard Operator Jobs

The objective of this job is to assist our bridge maintenance and highway maintenance operations.  This will involve operating heavy equipment, conducting manual labor work, and completing inspections related to Environmental, Health and Safety, and Quality. This position will report to the Equipment Manager.

Responsibilities: (as directed by the Equipment Manager)

• Parts running
• Maintaining minimum stock levels of highway maintenance materials
• Unloading and organization of deliveries using telehandler
• Inspection and ordering of diesel for the diesel tank
• Responsible for the organization and coordination of materials at the Ellwood and Winterburn Yards
• Organization and coordination of removal of shop waste, including hazardous waste
• Assist with vehicle washing

Safety Responsibilities:

• Identify and address any safety issues encountered
• Review SWP and complete FLRAs
• Report incidents and near misses
• Being aware of Emergency Response Plans and roles and responsibilities within
• Take the company medical and drug screening
• Be aware of legislative responsibilities
• Participation in safety meetings
• Understand and enforce safety rules and policies
• Verify appropriate permits are completed as required
• Complete incident reporting as required
• Participate in investigations

• Class 3 with Airbrakes
• Training Required:
  • Class 3 with Airbrakes
  • WHIMIS/TDG
  • First Aid
  • Equipment specific training (Loader and Telehandler)
  • And any other course that management believes will be applicable to the duties.

• Experience in operating snow plow trucks

• A minimum of two years truck driving experience
