Job Description

CCASA Background

Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) was established and incorporated under the Societies Act in 1994 and became a registered charity in the following year. CCASA is the primary sexual harassment, sexual abuse and sexual assault crisis, counselling and education service provider for Calgary and surrounding areas. The organization believes in providing specialized and individualized services to address the needs of sexual violence survivors, their significant others, families, friends, and the broader community.

CCASA provides unique knowledge, understanding and expertise within the area of sexual violence which allows us to develop and provide the most effective and specialized services to the community. CCASA offers a broad spectrum of services along the continuum from prevention to intervention.

For over 25 years, CCASA has built a strong foundation and network of services to support communities in addressing sexual violence and the resulting myriad of complex issues for individuals, families and communities. We strive to enhance the health and well-being of all people and our broader community through responsible and effective programs in sexual harassment, sexual abuse and sexual assault services.

Project Overview

Building on CCASA’s strong foundation and network of services to support communities in addressing sexual violence, CCASA is reimagining the Education and Training Program and developing a Training, Resource and Education Centre (TREC), which will expand and increase accessibility to CCASA’s myriad of education, training and resource information. One of CCASA’s most important strengths has been their education and training program. The TREC will take these professionally developed resources and education curriculum and develop and deliver a continuum of education and training resources and services both in person and virtually through CCASA’s expanded on-line platform (which includes a revision to their existing website).

Website Development for the TREC

While CCASA has provided training and education services for a long time, the launch of TREC symbolizes a stronger emphasis on this expanded and different offering. Updates need to be made to the website to streamline the TREC program and services, create spaces specifically designed for the priority audience segments (i.e. corporate, schools, community), integrate key messages and facilitate ease of registration, booking and participation.

Role responsibilities:

  • Integrate existing professionally developed resources and educational curriculum into the website's architecture for seamless accessibility.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, web development best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the website's functionality and user experience.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communication teams to optimize the website's visibility and reach through SEO strategies and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee the maintenance and regular updates of the website to ensure accurate and current content delivery.
  • Design and develop an upgraded website that showcases CCASA's education and training offerings, aligning with the organization's mission and branding.
  • Manage the website's content management system (CMS) to streamline content creation, editing, and publishing processes.
  • Monitor website analytics and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with the TREC team to understand project objectives, user needs, and design requirements.
  • Implement responsive design principles to ensure an optimal user experience across various devices and screen sizes.
  • Enhance the website's interactivity by incorporating multimedia elements, interactive tools, and engaging visuals.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • At least five years experience in web development, design, and management, preferably with experience in educational or nonprofit contexts.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with responsive and mobile-friendly design principles.
  • Strong UI/UX design skills, with the ability to create visually appealing and user-centered digital experiences.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design/Development, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal).
