Job Description

Kids Shield Services is currently looking to add a video editor to their team to help them fulfil their vision of making the cyber world a safer place for kids and teens. We are producing a series of educational training courses and professional certifications and are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable video editor to help us achieve our goals.

The ideal candidate should be proficient in modern video editing software, superior organizational skills, a keen sense of detail, and a strong understanding of the video production workflow and latest trends and best practices.

You will be an integral part of our video production process, and will ensure the smooth coordination of projects from start to finish. This role will involve overseeing and managing all aspects of editing raw video footage and audio provided by a film production team and will require clear and transparent communication with other team members to ensure a successful outcome.

Must have / be an experienced with:

  • Motion graphics software experience such as Adobe After Effects, Fusion, or Nuke Studio.
  • Be familiar with keyframing, layering titles, slides, and text.
  • Ability to work independently with direction and have excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Film, Communications, or Marketing) or equivalent work experience.
  • Using professional non-linear video editors such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Vegas Pro, or Final Cut Pro, and associated supporting software.
  • Green/Blue screen removal using professional chroma key compositing tools, and layer masks create engaging multi-layer videos.
  • Strong knowledge of typography and colour correction, an eye for composition, a good sense of timing and sequencing, and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Syncing audio between multiple sources, and editing audio to clean up dialogue, e.g., remove noise, crackle, reverberation, de-ess, compress, equalize, export for modern loudness standards. Layer voice-over with music / sfx – stereo only.
  • Knowledge of different video and audio codes and producing video content for various platforms e.g., social media, YouTube, Udemy etc.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to provide updates, gather feedback, and manage expectations.
  • Help to coordinate the final delivery of video content into a complete education package on various online learning platforms.
  • Help maintain project documentation, including shot lists, storyboards, production, and delivery schedules.
  • Project coordination efforts, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget tracking, and assisting on production if needed.
  • Organizing and editing raw video footage as well as voiceover audio provided by the film production team. Integrating b-roll, graphics, animations, 3-D models, and audio to create compelling content.
  • Working to deadlines to ensure timely delivery of project deliverables whilst maintaining a high-quality of satisfaction.

Preference will be given to people who have a direct film/video background and who possess more than one of the skill sets listed. The position is available on a contract basis to start with an opportunity to move into a full-time role at a later date.
