About The Role

We are looking for a Production Engineer or Senior Production Engineer, Underground Mining to be responsible for overseeing and completing mine engineering and project work as assigned to drive the goals of the department in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner.


Working on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule and reporting to the Superintendent of Underground Operations, Diavik Diamonds Mine Inc. (DDMI) you will be


  • Actioning items from group safety audits;
  • Liaising with other departments outside of Underground Mining;
  • Performing related duties and activities as directed by the Underground Mine Captain or Superintendent as required.
  • Driving safety leadership through behaviors aligned with our values of Everyday Respect;
  • Assisting with contractor management;
  • Leading projects for the underground operations department;
  • Reviewing costs & constructing budget templates;
  • Participating in weekly safety audits, compliance checks, safety investigations and monitoring/maintaining departmental safety processes;


What You’ll Bring


To be successfully considered for this role, you will have


  • Experience working with people from different cultures and knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North will be an asset.
  • Underground mining operations and engineering experience is considered an asset, as is mine rescue experience;
  • Degree in Mine Engineering;
  • Knowledge of project management practices including budgeting;
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, motivate others, and drive results;
  • Eligibility for membership in NAPEGG (Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut);


Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets. Hiring priority will be given to qualified applicants who are beneficiaries of the DDMI Participation Agreement Groups and to qualified applicants residing in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Territories.
