Job Description


As Production Supervisor- you will supervise and lead the daily activities of the workforce using internal company goals and objectives as the benchmark: Safety, quality, cost, delivery, and efficiency. You will determine root cause of failure, and perform, plan and implement countermeasures to continuously improve.


Reporting directly to the Sr. Mgr Manufacturing; this position is located in Concord, ON*.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Meets production requirements and delivery schedules by monitoring personnel, and resources, expediting work results, fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing regulatory and organizational standards and procedures, including educating and directing personnel on established policies and procedures.
  • Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
  • Maintains staff by assisting Human Resources with recruiting, selecting, orientation and training employees.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement and 5S activities utilizing Daily Continuous Improvement and ensuring countermeasures are adopted for continuous improvement.
  • Provides manufacturing information to company management team by compiling and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Works directly with Sr. Mgr Manufacturing on production planning, budgeting, and key performance indicators.
  • Improves workflow by eliminating stoppages, analyzing delays, identifying solutions, recommending and implementing action plans and process improvements.
  • Oversees production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results.
  • Supervises manufacturing team by communicating job expectations, appraising job results, coaching, counseling, disciplining employees, enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.


Job Requirements:


  • Ability to read/interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and contract specifications.
  • Unionized environment experience is preferred
  • Accountability for actions is a must
  • This position requires College or University Degree in Engineering. Will consider 8 years Manufacturing Supervision experience in lieu of education.
  • Successfully works in a cross-functional team environment of buyers/purchasers, engineers, schedulers and customer service
  • Should have knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, Internet software; Order processing systems and Manufacturing software and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of QAD would be advantageous.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in Production Supervision
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and OT
  • Must possess good verbal and written communications skills and be able to function as part of multiple teams in a fast paced and multi-task environment. Must be highly organized and comfortable working with tight deadlines.
  • Experience in coaching, process improvement, quality management, safety management, tracking budget expenses, and production metrics.
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in metal production environment is an asset
  • Sig Sigma certification is preferred
