Covia is looking for a Summer Student-Hourly who will have a positive impact on the Nepheline Syenite Operation located at the Blue Mountain facility.
The Summer Student-Hourly Is Responsible To Following
The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:
  • Fill operator positions within the plant for planned and unplanned absences
  • Utilize a wheelbarrow to move rock, sand, and dust.
  • Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors
  • Work in extreme weather conditions, including cold, heat, snow and mud
  • Assist in Dust Collectors
  • Assist the maintenance crew as required
  • Possess the ability to learn, understand and follow all Health & Safety policies/procedures
  • Sweep, shovel, and vacuum rock, sand and dust.
  • Work while wearing respirator, safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses and hearing protection.
  • Perform all other duties as needed or assigned
  • Fill job classifications created by annual vacation relief positions that are vacant.
The Successful Incumbent Will Have The Following Minimum Qualifications
  • Computer skills and further education an asset
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Possess good communication skills, basic analytical skills and an ability to read and carry out instructions
  • Must be comfortable working independently, under supervision and in team settings.
  • All other work as assigned
  • Literacy in English, both written and spoken.
  • Availability to work shift work and weekends
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Should have manual dexterity, physical strength and coordination
  • Willing to perform repetitive or routine tasks
