Site Operations Department
The Site Operations Department is responsible for the overall health of all mechanical and electrical systems, building maintenance, and performance of all data modules in our data centers. The team is staffed 24 x 7 onsite with Critical Facilities Technician (CFTs) working on shift. This team is the face of Vantage to our customers and the guaranty of business continuity and excellence of Operations of our campus as well as the performance of our customer installations. Using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan and track maintenance activities, the Site Operations department is responsible for all preventative and corrective maintenance. Position Overview
We are looking for a Critical Facilities Technician who knows what best-in-class service looks like and can make that a reality. This role is an important member of our facilities team where we manage some of the most efficient and cost-effective data center facilities in the industry.
The successful candidate for this role will work with a team of other electrical and mechanical-focused engineers performing maintenance and repair for our data center infrastructure. We take our customer requirements for uptime seriously and keep our facilities maintained to a very high standard to insure uninterrupted service for our customers.
If you enjoy working on critical data center systems (UPSs, PDUs, Diesel Generators, ATS equipment and Building Controls), as well as industrial electrical equipment and systems that include power distribution components/wiring, electronic components and lighting systems. Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure the completion of the maintenance activities to the highest quality level of planification, preparation, execution, and reporting
  • Use the BMS (Backup Management System) and all available systems and do regular walkthroughs to keep up to date at all time the appropriate monitoring on site
  • Ensure the full reliability of the infrastructures with the focus on continuity of services, energy efficiency and budgetary constraints
Duties
  • Participate with the construction team to any site construction phase including the commissioning, and specifically to ensure service continuity to the customers
  • In close collaboration with the contractors, participate in the drafting of the preventive maintenance schedule for the site infrastructures and implement it in collaboration with all service providers concerned. Closely monitor the operations with a continuous concern for minimizing risks during interventions, and ensure the reporting of this activity
  • Participate in the implementation of the site-specific crisis management plan and in the tests and implementation exercises concerning this plan
  • Participate in regular audits which are designed to assess the level of service continuity and analyze risks
  • Ensure highest standards of cleanliness by adapting the ad-hoc services
  • Produce any indicators or data which allow for the calculation of an indicator
  • Develop energy quality indicators as provided on behalf of infrastructures, by keeping appropriate records.
  • With the assistance of the IT and Controls departments, ensure the proper operation of the site’s BMS
  • Beyond the context of the technical infrastructures of the Data Centre area, manage all services / suppliers concerned and the external appearance of the building, working in coordination with its owner’s technical /operational departments
  • Proactively raise awareness of the need to increase the power level that is contractually agreed with the energy provider
  • Ensure that resources allow for the monitoring of infrastructures and their use at all times and as closely and as efficiently as possible, including with regard to their use by security officers
  • Implement improvement plans arising from the observations made during audits or in response to incidents arising in the infrastructures
  • According to the Site Manager's instructions, carry out this infrastructure reinforcement analysis well in advance (utilizing studies, quotations for implementation, project schedule, risk analysis, operating instructions, etc.)
  • Anticipate the impact of the future development of customer loads on these infrastructures by implementing warning thresholds and also by investigating technical solutions to reinforce the infrastructures (technical feasibility, design choices, budgetary allowance, etc.) and/or their level of redundancy
  • Actively contribute to all improvement actions in the site PUE
  • Within applicable and authorized interventions according to the local regulation and the up to date certification(s) of the CFT, be capable of manipulating / activating certain electrical and or mechanical and or security infrastructures for the purpose of protecting people and property and/or maintaining service continuity on the site
  • Monitor very closely the capacities of the infrastructure equipment at their different levels and their load of use / demand, and report back to the Site Manager
  • Support and monitor the maintenance service providers daily and keep up to date the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in accordance with VANTAGE’s requirements
Job Requirements
  • Good communication skills with third parties and internal customers
  • Experience in these types of functions, ideally in a similar environment to data center operations
  • Everyday use of standard office equipment
  • Locking out / making installations safe after incidents
  • Travel is expected to be less than 5%, occasionally for training purposes
  • Technical versatility
  • English and German language minimum level B2
  • Technical training (advanced technician or engineer level) in one of the following fields: electricity (electric generators, UPS, low-voltage distribution), air conditioning, fire and physical safety and security (access control, video and anti-intrusion systems) or centralized building management systems
  • Readings and measurements on equipment
  • Proven skills in the use of software, such as, BMS, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and MS Project
  • Ability to demonstrate a proactive approach and the capacity to generate new ideas
  • Potential employees must complete a background check successfully
  • Highly motivated at problem-solving
  • Good writing skills
  • Supervision of Level II, III and IV maintenance works on the site infrastructure
  • Demonstrate knowledge in operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting, and testing critical electrical distribution systems, HVAC systems and building management/automation equipment
  • Candidates must possess reliable transportation for reporting to work for shifts, or emergencies
  • Supervision of preventive and corrective maintenance activities
  • Attention to detail and a genuine commitment to following up actions
  • Reactivation of circuit breakers in low-voltage electrical equipment
Physical Activities And Requirements
  • Able to exert force in order to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Raised access floor work. Must be able to manoeuvre and work underneath and around raised access floor of varying heights
  • Moving about at different levels.
  • Repetitive motion.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Applying pressure to an object.
Physical Working Conditions
  • The position is subject to extreme cold and extreme heat. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The position is subject to noise such as vibration and high volume of air movement
  • The position is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
