Your Role and Responsibilities

Db2 LUW (Linux/Unix/Windows) High Availability development team at the IBM Markham Lab in Markham is looking for backend software developers to work alongside the best and brightest minds on creating an Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) database with 99.999% availability for on-premise or hybrid cloud environment deployments. Candidates should be strong team players with excellent communication skills who thrive in a challenging yet collaborative team environment. Relational database knowledge including SQL and experience using the Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems is preferred. Software developers will contribute to the design and implementation of new high availability features leveraging open source cluster manager technology.

Responsibilities

Development responsibilities include designing, coding, and unit testing future enhancements as well as investigating and resolving function test, system test, and performance problems.

Customer support responsibilities by addressing concerns and providing Root Cause Analysis and the corresponding fixes.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience using Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems
• Data Structures (arrays, pointers, hash buckets)
• Experience with problem determination and debugging
• Scripting (Shell scripting, Perl, Python)
• English: Fluent
• At least 6 months experience in Relational Database and SQL
• At least 1 year experience in C/C++ Programming
• Operating System Concepts(serialization, concurrency, multi-threading)
• Computer Science Algorithms (sorting, hashing)

Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise

• 2+ years' scripting experience with Perl and Python
• 2+ years' experience and strong programming abilities with C/C++
• Knowledge of system/cluster availability (HA, clustering, TSA, Pacemaker, Corosync)
• Knowledge of GitHub
• Strong development experience in a Db2 environment
