Software Architect Jobs

Looking for a highly skilled software architect that enjoys solving complex problems and confidently brings their unique voice and perspective to the table. An experienced software architect with expertise in the Microsoft Azure stack, as well as in Angular and web APIs, the successful candidate will be self-motivated, dedicated, and passionate about technology. The candidate must feel at home in a highly collaborative and supportive team of professional problem-solvers and be driven to help team members tackle challenges and continually grow their technical and professional skillset.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinate, as required, with corporate IT and security experts, including support for SOC audits
• Assist the client team with identification of technical chores and when technical debt needs to be addressed, and lead the task breakdown with developers
• Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and skill-growth through mentorship and by identifying training opportunities
• Identify and mitigate development, security, and other risks in our product roadmaps
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and support to our developers, including code reviews, and provide timely and actionable feedback
• Scope and construct POCs based on business requirements
• Troubleshoot escalated performance issues and system errors quickly and efficiently
• Architect modern, robust, secure, and easily maintainable web applications
• Keep abreast of technology trends and best practices, including evaluation of tech stacks, design patterns, and libraries
• Collaborate with other senior software and business domain experts to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new applications
• Develop high-level specifications for key architecture and design elements to facilitate development and preserve design intent
• Develop data, process, and network models to optimize architecture and to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs
• Participate in strategy sessions related to software initiatives

What You’ll Bring to Us

• Understanding of design patterns and frameworks, such as MVC and Entity Framework
• Post-secondary education in computer science or related field
• Understanding of software quality assurance principles
• Fluent in C# and expert knowledge of .NET
• 10+ years of total work experience
• Desire to understand our business and the pension and benefits issues that give rise to our work
• Expertise in MS-SQL, stored procedures, and database design
• Understanding of UI/UX design, including CSS3, HTML5, and responsive design
• Demonstrated experience working effectively at a senior level in a complex cross functional environment and partnering across technology groups to develop, implement and sustain business solutions
• Proven experience as a software architect
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Substantial experience in Visual Studio development environment
• Experience working in Agile environment
• Significant experience with Angular, Web APIs, and JWT
• Significant experience in Azure hosting and development environments
• Willingness to quickly investigate and learn new technologies
• Strong technical architect design and solution experiences in the application development, cloud, and other areas
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Experience with CosmosDB and GraphQL nice to have

Nice to Have:

• Application development experience in the pension industry, including: data administration systems, employee-facing web sites, and pension modelling tools
• Experience working in professional services organizations (pension / benefits industry is an asset)
• A background in actuarial science, whether through education or work exposure
