Job Description
Job Title: Social Media & Community Partnerships Coordinator


Status: Full-time, 1 year contract


Location: Burlington, ON / Remote


Department: Marketing


Start date: Immediate


We’re looking for someone who is organized, has experience managing social media platforms, and working collaboratively. They have a passion for increasing brand awareness and engagement. They should be comfortable building relationships with various stakeholders (including followers, donors, organizations, influencers, and volunteers). They must bring creative energy and passion to a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate must bring an understanding of social media tools and tactics.


This role is responsible for understanding our audience and engaging with our donors and followers in unique and exciting ways. This role will work closely with the marketing team to post, communicate, and optimize our social media platforms.


The candidate should have strong writing skills, with the ability to write clearly, simply and compellingly. They are required to have a strong attention to detail and a good understanding of the various content styles needed for online engagement, fundraising and stewardship.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Social Media Platform Management (75%)


  • Experience with recording and editing reels and tiktoks to generate compelling content of community events and workshops
  • Focus areas will be on Twitter, YouTube, and Linkedin
  • Write compelling and thought provoking social media captions that tell a story and follow SEO best practices.
  • Work with content creators to post the content they generate in a way that is optimized for each platform through social SEO best practices.
  • Required to attend regional events to cover for social media as needed
  • Create optimized YouTube playlists and organize material based on campaigns, drafting optimized written content in the video descriptions
  • Attend weekly team meetings and give suggestions on how to improve content based on what is performing well online. Good understanding of analytics
  • Weekend work may be required
  • Utilize tags, hashtags, quality photos and thumbnails to maintain a professional brand look and feel
  • Communicate with other departments to showcase regional events on social media
  • Manage the Direct Messages of all social media platforms and reply with professionalism and in a timely manner. Will operate as the brand voice online
  • Respond to major news events in a timely manner as they pertain to IRC (natural disasters, social or political events, Muslim community wins)
  • Ensure that all social media platforms are up to date with new campaigns (updating linktree, header photos, pinned posts)
  • Manage the look and feel of the Instagram feed and Instagram/Facebook/Tiktok stories schedule


Small Business & Influencer Relations (25%)


  • Work with the social media manager to develop a strategy around collaborations with small businesses
  • Outreach to influencers to fundraise during emergencies or key dates (i.e. Ramadan) as well as engaging with them to volunteer domestically and internationally.
  • Manage the relationships with small businesses and influencers by communicating regularly, inviting them to events, and sending brand packages.


Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Ability to maintain high level of attention to detail and consistency in language and brand
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Experience with social media tactics such as influencer partnerships, content strategy, social media listening and event coverage.
  • Motivated self-starter who is able to take both guidance and initiative
  • Detail-oriented and committed to deadlines
  • Works well in a team with a collaborative lens
  • Past experience producing social media content, managing multiple platforms, as well as channel-specific knowledge (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn etc.) is required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines
  • Creative and energetic ability to work in fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and prioritize competing demands
  • 2-3 years of social media or marketing experience is required
  • Access to a car and G level license
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, and analytical skills
  • Bilingual/proficiency in French is an asset
