Job Description
Position Summary


Reporting to the Logistics Manager or designate, the Shipper Receiver is responsible for the receiving of corn and shipping of co-products. The Shipper Receiver also assists with other shipments and deliveries as required for plant operations.


The Shipper Receiver is responsible for the housekeeping of the Grains area in accordance with our Health & Safety program.


Minimum Qualifications And Skills


  • Proficiency in all forms of written communications.
  • Must have minimum 1 year experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., payloader, skid steer, forklift, etc.)
  • Demonstrated:
  • Able to work independently or with a co-worker to ensure loading procedures are followed.
  • Must work in accordance with our health & safety program.
  • Proven positive attitude.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Teamwork and problem-solving skills, and
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Self direction with minimal supervision,
  • A specification of the qualifications needed to perform the job, including skills, training, education, communication and personal suitabilities, as well as any certificates or licences required.
  • Be able to assist deliveries, shipments, load distiller’s grain by operating pay loaders safely and effectively.

Responsibilities


Coordinate shipping and receiving of product and coordination of tasks including:


  • Professional and courteous conduct and communication during all interactions.
  • Verify scheduled loads with electronic schedule.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and participate in upkeep of equipment (e.g., greasing).
  • Form decisions with a commonsense approach that supports the best interest of IGPC.
  • Operate pay loader to assist in loading of distiller’s grains.
  • Perform other duties as delegated and assigned.
  • Remove distiller’s grain and grain debris from Grains area using brooms, shovels, and auto sweeper.
  • Attend the required shift rotation.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team in order to complete tasks.
  • Must fully participate in the training required to perform the position.
  • Act as a representative of the company when communicating with customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Communicate with truck drivers to coordinate grains receiving and direct truck traffic.


Health & Safety Aspects


The successful candidate must comply with the health and safety rules defined in IGPC Ethanol’s Employee Handbook. The candidate must comply with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and use all equipment, protective devices and/or clothing required by IGPC Ethanol Inc.


Use of the following clothing and personal protective equipment is required:


  • Hard hat (except in clearly defined office areas)
  • 100% Cotton or FR rated Clothing
  • Other PPE as required
  • Long Sleeve Shirt
  • Hearing protection (where required)
  • Respiratory protection (where required)
  • IGPC approved safety work boot (CSA approved; steel toed, minimum 6” high etc.)
  • High visibility clothing (uniform/vest/coat)
  • Safety Glasses


The successful candidate must fully participate in the training required to perform in the position. This includes, but is not limited to, worker health & safety awareness, forklift, aerial work platforms, confined space entry & rescue, first aid training etc. This position requires the candidate to be clean shaven to ensure a proper seal when wearing respiratory protection. Candidate must be aware of vehicle traffic, such as fork-lifts, pay loaders, and tractor trailers.


Mental and Physical Effort


  • The Shipper Receiver must be able to work independently and demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times.
  • Auditory distractions may include conversations between colleagues, phones ringing, alarms sounding, motors running, and other loud noises. Visual distractions may include the movement of people, vehicles, or objects.
  • The position requires multi-tasking while maintaining focus of all steps in the process. The Shipper Receiver must display strong attention to detail and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Communication is essential so the candidate will need to have effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to prioritize tasks/situations and recognize when to self-address or escalate to management.
  • At times can be moderately physically demanding. Physical Requirements include walking, standing, climbing stairs and ladders, sweeping, and shoveling grains.


Working Conditions


  • Outdoor activities are performed in areas with heavy equipment and rotating machinery.
  • Will work both in an office and warehouse/storage setting and throughout the facility as required.
  • Outdoor activity in all weather conditions.
  • From time to time will be exposed to long work hours and potential non-standard shifts.
