We are seeking a Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Coordinator to join our Critical Care / Emergency team in Williams Lake.
Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a community hospital located in Williams Lake as a small facility, we provide an opportunity for you to practice with a degree of autonomy that is not possible in a large centre. With a large catchment area that stretches to Bella Coola on the coast, the Cariboo mountains on the east, and a sizeable First Nations population, we have the opportunity to make a real impact in peoples' lives.
The SAFE Coordinator provides leadership to the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Program at the assigned site as well as supporting regional SAFE work. The SAFE Coordinator provides supervision, coordination of SAFE services, clinical support, and mentorship of SAFE staff. Demonstrates expertise and provides clinical leadership and consultation to staff, patients, and members of the interdisciplinary team by consulting with experts, collaborating with other members of the team and providing current information based on application of forensic nursing theories, concepts and principles.
The SAFE Coordinator evaluates program effectiveness to ensure clinical area objectives are met and that resources are current, relevant, and cost effective. Role models direct care skills to staff based on application of theories, concepts, and principles to provide excellence in quality care. Using IH organizational framework participates in quality improvement, evaluation, and risk management activities and participates in research and special projects.
Currently the Emergency Room has one trauma room, a minor surgery room, five monitoring bays, a gyne room that is doubles as the negative pressure room, a designated observation room and a two-bay cast room. Our Emergency Room sees approximately 21,000 patient visits a year and the staffing complement consists of a RN/LPN mix, and ED Physician coverage 24/7. The High Acuity Unit has 3 high acuity beds.
We have commenced a 3 year redevelopment that will allow people to have increased access to health-care services as the expanded hospital will include a new emergency department, medical/surgical in-patient unit and mental-health and substance-use in-patient unit as well as an expanded ambulatory care and oncology unit, maternity and women’s health unit and pharmacy. The hospital will also include administrative, educational and training spaces for the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine. The hospital is also supported by critical care transport teams from BCEHS and the HART program.
This is a permanent part time (0.50FTE) position working Monday, Tuesday and alternating Thursday shifts from 08:00 to 16:00.
