#WFP2023THE OPPORTUNITYWestern is currently hiring for Sawmill Production Labourers at our sawmills in Nanaimo, Ladysmith and Chemainus, BC. We have multiple positions available at each location.Current opportunities:Ladysmith Sawmill Operations, LadysmithSaltair Sawmill Division, LadysmithDuke Point Sawmill, NanaimoChemainus Sawmill Division, ChemainusChemainus Value Added Division, ChemainusWhat We Offer:Unionized wage rates ranging between $24.30 – $32.54, depending on location;Health & Dental Benefits and Pension (provided through the union);A safe work environment;On the job training; and,Opportunities for growth and a long-term career.Shifts: Monday-Friday, day, afternoon and graveyard shiftsProduction employees are required to work a variety of shifts and may begin on an on-call basis until a full-time position becomes available.These positions are considered safety sensitive, all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.RESPONSIBILITIESAll employees will start in general labour or cleanup positions, and then progress from there into a variety of roles including machine operators.All employees must maintain a safe and clean work area.Supporting other areas of the operations as needed.QUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceIt would be an asset to have previous experience in a safety-sensitive environment (trades-related or an industrial environment), but not necessary. We will train people without this background if they have the right attitude and want to learn!Grade 12 or equivalent required.First Aid/WHMIS an asset – preference is always given to candidates who have OFA 3.Skills, Knowledge and Required CompetenciesYou have an excellent and demonstrated commitment to safety;A strong work ethic with willingness to lend a helping hand when needed;Accountable and dependable;Able to prioritize work;Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and with minimal supervision.A desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement.YOUR CAREERAt Western Forest Products, we believe our most significant asset is our people.
